The Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP) is a federal government program designed to make essential dental care more affordable for eligible Canadians. At Gore Street Dental, we proudly support patients covered under the CDCP and help them access high-quality dental care with reduced or no out-of-pocket costs.
If you are looking for a CDCP dentist in Ontario, our team is here to help you understand your benefits and receive the care you need.

The CDCP (Canadian Dental Care Plan) is a government-funded dental program created to improve access to oral healthcare for Canadians who do not have private dental insurance and meet income requirements.
It provides coverage for essential dental services, including:
To qualify for the Canadian Dental Care Plan, you must:
Eligibility must be renewed each year to maintain coverage.
Patients can apply through the Government of Canada online portal or by phone.
Once approved, Health Canada will confirm eligibility and coordinate with Sun Life, the program administrator. Patients will receive:

Patients may still have co-payments depending on income level and treatment type.

The Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP) covers a broad range of essential dental services focused on maintaining and restoring oral health. Most routine and preventive treatments, such as dental exams, X-rays, cleanings, fillings, standard root canals, simple extractions, complete dentures, and minimal sedation, are covered without requiring pre-authorization.
More complex treatments, however, may require approval before they can be completed. These include services such as crowns, post and core build-ups, complex or re-treatment root canals, partial dentures, specialist procedures, oral surgery beyond simple extractions, sedation dentistry involving moderate to general anesthesia, and orthodontic care when it is medically necessary.
While the CDCP supports many essential dental needs, it does not include coverage for cosmetic or elective treatments. Services not covered include dental implants, veneers, teeth whitening, cosmetic dentistry, fixed bridges, bone grafting procedures, TMJ therapy and appliances, mouthguards or night guards, and extensive full-mouth rehabilitation.
